Last night's episode of RAW opened with Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre squaring off in singles action. It was an absolute banger which saw interference ultimately decide the outcome.
Jimmy Uso made his way to the ring and, while the referee was distracted, Solo Sikoa hit the American Nightmare with a Samoan Spike, leading to McIntyre hitting the babyface with a devastating Claymore Kick.
This was clearly meant to bring back memories of Solo costing Rhodes the win at WrestleMania last year and marks a rare pinfall loss for the fan-favourite.
Rhodes will once again challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at this year's Show of Shows but The Bloodline isn't happy about it and this was their way of showing it. Backstage, Rhodes was briefly consoled by Seth Rollins before their planned appearance on The Grayson Waller Effect this Saturday at Elimination Chamber.
In RAW's main event, we saw Jey Uso challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship. It looked like the former Tag Team Champion had that match won, but when a hooded figure rang the bell, Gunther took advantage of the distraction to roll up his opponent for the 1-2-3.
Jimmy then revealed himself and attacked his brother with multiple splashes to close out the show and set the stage for these two to go one-on-one at WrestleMania this April.
"I feel like what would make mine and my brother’s angle different would obviously be the emotion part, right?" Jey said earlier this year when he was asked about that possible match. "The promo part of me and my brother, just us. Imagine the fire, imagine the emotion within me and him."
"If you saw it with Roman and you saw it with Sami, this would just be amplified 10 times more, so I'm excited and I'm ready just to deliver to the people," he continued. "And I do want a main event and I mean main event WrestleMania with my twin brother in front of 100,000 people. Maybe I go night one and then Roman is night two, like we’re still running The Bloodline is what I'm saying."
