According to Dave Meltzer during the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, there are indeed plans for the "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith to be inducted in this year's WWE Hall of Fame. According to Meltzer, it's been "confirmed," but we've yet to hear anything from WWE as of right now.
Smith passed away at the age of only 39 back in 2002 and his family has spent years pushing for him to be inducted. There was a belief among fans that WWE might be waiting until WrestleMania is held in the UK, but with no plans in place for that to happen, WWE has chosen 2020 to make it happen. Interestingly, his son David Hart Smith, was recently featured on WWE show The Bump.
The only confirmed headliners this year are Dave Bautista and the nWo (Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman). However, it was recently reported that there are also plans for The Bella Twins and Jushin "Thunder" Liger to be inducted.
Stay tuned for further updates as we have them.
