The Decision To Either Hold CROWN JEWEL In Saudi Arabia Or Cancel May No Longer Be WWE's To Make
As controversy continues to swirl around the Crown Jewel event, a new report suggests that the decision to either cancel or continue as planned is no longer in The WWE's hands. Find out more after the jump...
We reported last night that WWE was expected to come to a decision about Crown Jewel at some point today, but as of right now we've had no official word or updates on the Saudi Arabia situation - and there might be a very good reason for that.
According to Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez's sources, the matter is now in the hands of the US State Department!
“Well, the answer is it’s in the hands of the government — the State Department. Today’s the day where Vince was supposed to give word on whether or not they can go and as of 3 eastern they have announced nothing publicly.”
Obviously we'll have to wait and see if this really is the case, but given how much backlash and controversy this entire debacle has generated, it's not outside the realms of possibility that the ultimate decision was taken out of the WWE higher ups' hands.
