The Miz Defeated Rusev To Earn A Spot In The CROWN JEWEL World Cup With Some Help From Aiden English
In what proved to be a blink and you'd miss it match, The Miz managed to beat Rusev on last night's SmackDown Live for the opportunity to compete in Crown Jewel's World Cup tournament. Read on for details!
SmackDown 1000 had a lot to squeeze in so not every Superstar or match on the show received the attention they deserved. Kurt Angle, for example, was at ringside on commentary for The Miz vs. Rusev and got to say perhaps a dozen words before the bout ended with the A-Lister grabbing a fist full of tights for the 1-2-3 after a rollup. Why was it so brief? Well, we can thank Aiden English!
He came to ringside to distract his former tag team partner but once the bell rang to signal the end of the match, Lana made English pay with a nasty looking low blow which left him reeling.
Now, The Miz joins an impressive field which includes John Cena, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Seth Rollins, and Dolph Ziggler. It would have been a great shame not to see him compete at Crown Jewel seeing as he's seemingly being set up as the next Superstar to challenge for the WWE Championship but who will win the tournament is damn near impossible to say.
