Due to the fact Brock Lesnar appears on RAW, we haven't seen him defend the Universal Championship since April. While AJ Styles obviously defends the WWE Championship on a regular basis, RAW is often favoured over SmackDown Live meaning matches from that show are given the main event spot at co-branded PPVs regardless of whether or not there's a title actually involved.
At Backlash, Roman Reigns squared off against Samoa Joe and the Universal Championship nowhere to be seen, you can understand why former WWE Champion The Miz doesn't think that's right.
"I was upset that the championship wasn’t [in the main event]," he said referring to the Styles vs. Nakamura match earlier in the night. "It wasn’t that Roman Reigns was in the main event. It was the championship. When I look at championships and the Universal Championship isn’t there, I think the WWE or Universal Championships should be in the main event at all times."
"The reason being is that’s the most prestigious title, supposedly. It’s supposed to be the most prestigious and honorable title in WWE even though when I had the Intercontinental Championship, I made it that," he concluded. The Miz makes some valid points here but you have to believe he was probably happy with that Ziggler vs. Rollins main event at Extreme Rules!
