Like Charlotte Flair earlier in the show, new WWE Champion Daniel Bryan cut a promo on SmackDown LIVE tonight, explaining why he "kicked AJ Styles in the balls" 2 weeks ago in order to win the title.

Speaking in the third person, Bryan basically blamed the fans for losing faith in him, and praised the "new Daniel Bryan" for refusing to give up on his dreams of returning to the ring after officially retiring 3 years previous.

It wasn't the most original "this is why I'm heel now" explanation, but it was certainly effective, as Daniel actually succeeded in getting some real heat - something that can be difficult to do in the current pro-wrestling climate.

No sign of former champ AJ Styles tonight, but he will get his shot at revenge at TLC when he faces Bryan for the WWE Championchip.
