The New Year's Eve Edition Of RAW Will Be Taped (And Possibly) Aired On A Different Day

WWE has some bad luck this year because the final RAW of 2018 will take place on New Year's Eve. That guarantees bad ratings but it now appears as if the show will be taped and aired on a totally different day.

The final Monday of 2018 falls on New Year's Eve and that means so does RAW. It's always a bad night for television ratings because people are out celebrating and Superstars would also no doubt prefer to be at home with their loved ones to welcome in 2019. Well, it appears as if they'll get the chance because it's been confirmed today that the show will instead be taped on December 28th in Detroit.

What's not clear is if the plan is to then air it on Monday as planned or if it will be a special live presentation on Friday (there should be plenty of free slots on the USA Network between Christmas and the New Year) with a repeat then airing a couple of days later. Either way, we can probably expect this to be a filler show because WWE will know in advance that not many fans will ultimately end up tuning in.
