The next challenger for Bobby Lashley's WWE Championship was determined last night on Raw, and in an exciting and unexpected twist, it's going to be... Drew McIntyre again.
Despite coming up short at WrestleMania, the Scottish Warrior will get another opportunity to dethrone the Almighty One and regain the gold at WWE's next pay-per-view event, WrestleMania Backlash on May 16. Drew did have to earn his shot, however, by defeating both Randy Orton and Braun Strowman in a triple-threat match.
The bout was decent enough, with all three men coming close to victory on several different occasions. In the end, The Viper managed to hit Strowman with an RKO, but as he went to make the pin, McIntyre charged with a sliding Claymore and covered Orton for the win.
We figured this feud would continue, but if they didn't put the title on Drew at 'Mania, they're hardly going to have him win it back at bloody Backlash. The addition of T-BAR and Mace from the now defunct Retribution stable (don't get us started) might freshen things up a bit, but we can't see the current creative team doing a whole lot with this to be honest.
