There's been a lot of debate and speculation online following the seemingly botched finish to the Raw Women's Championship match between Asuka and Mickie James on last night's episode of Raw, and now we may have a better idea of what actually happened.

It was assumed that James must have suffered some kind of injury that the ref noticed and the cameras failed to pick up, but as it turns out, the official actually thought the veteran Superstar legitimately passed out from the Asuka Lock.

Former WWE and TNA wrestler Matt Morgan texted his friend James to ask what the finish was all about, and she replied explaining that the ref called the match when he thought she'd lost consciousness and couldn't respond.

This still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Did the ref think Asuka forgot how to work and actually locked on the submission? Or went into business for herself and attempted to choke Mickie out? The safety of the performers should always be paramount so we can't blame him for stopping the match if he genuinely believed something was wrong, but it's a strange one for sure.
