It's been a long time coming, but Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival have finally been granted their release by WWE. The company made the news offcial with a typically brief statement:
"Effective today, Friday April 10, 2020, WWE and The Revival have agreed on their immediate release from WWE. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
Despite being one of most technically sound - and most popular - tag-teams in the business, The Revival were never utilized properly when they moved to the "main roster" from NXT, and are said to have been unhappy with their roles in the company for quite some time. We've been hearing for a while now that the duo were unofficially finished with WWE, so this announcement just confirms it.
It's a shame WWE (ie, Vince McMahon) didn't recognize Dawson and Wilder's potential to become one of the best tag-teams in the history of the company, but they now have plenty of options. Speculation obviously points to AEW, but their tag-team division isn't in the best shape either, so we think they may look elsewhere initially.
Where do you think The Revival will end up? Are you sad to see them leave WWE? Let us know in the comments.
