SmackDown opened with a confrontation between Jey Uso and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns ahead of their "Tribal Combat" match at SummerSlam.
Jey started by saying that he had happily served Roman for the past few years because he believed in him as the Bloodline's Tribal Chief. However, he now blames his cousin for breaking the family, their faction, and Jimmy.
Reigns countered by claiming Jey is selfish and said he only became his right-hand man because Jimmy was hurt at the time. With that, the former Undisputed Tag Team Champion pointed out that he beat the Head of the Table at Money in the Bank and will do the same again at SummerSlam.
Later in the night, Jey faced Grayson Waller and, after picking up the win, he had to fend off Reigns and Solo Sikoa.
Jey superkicked his brother and speared Roman, only to come under attack from Solo again. With that, the babyface was hit with the spike/spear combo not one, but twice, leaving him lying as SmackDown went off the air.
Reigns has the advantage for now, but they'll both be at SmackDown next week and we can't wait to see what happens at the PLE.
It's hard to imagine the Head of the Table losing his title but this storyline has delivered surprise after surprise, so it's fair to say anything could happen. We're expecting more twists and turns, however, especially as the Road to WrestleMania is still several months away.
