Heading into last night's episode of SmackDown, there was speculation that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might make an appearance. Earlier in the day, he'd been roughly an hour away for an interview on The Pat McAfee show which saw the Braham Bull clear up speculation about a match with Roman Reigns.
It was actually McAfee who kicked off the show much to the delight of fans in Denver's Ball Arena, but it didn't take long for his old foe Austin Theory - who has also clashed with Johnson on social media - to interrupt the former commentator.
With that, The Rock himself made his entrance, soaking in the adoration of fans as they chanted "Holy sh*t!" with excitement. After a heated back-and-forth with saw the Black Adam star reel off a series of stellar one-liners, Theory attempted to jump the future WWE Hall of Famer only to be laid out.
The Rock hit the heel with the People's Elbow and got McAfee to do the same, leaving them to celebrate together.
Later in the show, a backstage segment saw John Cena welcome The Rock back to WWE, though it's unclear whether this appearance was meant to build to something more (like that long-awaited match with the Head of the Table).
Hollywood is on strike so he has time, but Johnson didn't interact with any members of The Bloodline during the show so the match isn't one WWE is teasing...yet.
Whatever the case may be, this was a fun moment for fans that came during a week which saw Endeavor acquire WWE and merge it with UFC to create TKO Holdings.
