According to Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast's Andrew Zarian, the current plan is for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to make his return at the Survivor Series PPV in November.
The reason The Great One is returning at that specific show is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut with the company (his first televised match was at Survivor Series in 1996). Apparently, the show will likely take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn; The Rock's debut was in New York City's Madison Square Garden.
It remains to be seen whether The Rock will wrestle on the show, but we're banking on that being something WWE saves for next year's WrestleMania, especially if the plan is to lay the groundwork for him to face Roman Reigns at the Show of Shows. That's been rumoured to be the case for a while now, though it's believed the Brahma Bull could end up competing in a tag team match.
That's to protect Johnson so he's not injured in a way that affects his movie career, and the latest rumour is that he'll team with one of The Usos to face Reigns and the other twin in order to decide who is the true Head of the Table.
