The Start Of A Big Singles Run For Big E May Have Begun During Last Night's SMACKDOWN

Wrestling fans have been keen to see Big E receive a singles run for a while now, and with Kofi Kingston shelved with an injury, last night's SmackDown pointed to the spotlight finally being put solely on him.

On Sunday, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The New Day at Extreme Rules to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. When we caught up with Big E during last night's SmackDown, he was clearly agitated, and it was then that Kofi Kingston came out of the trainer's room to reveal he will be out of action for six weeks, or possibly more.

After the former WWE Champion said he's looking forward to spending time with his family, he pointed out that the universe could be trying to tell them something, especially with Xavier Woods out of action.

Kingston pointed out that now is Big E's time to shine, and that he can show the world what he can do. While Big E appreciates the sentiment, Kofi was quick to interrupt him and point out that he's earned this, deserves this, and has The New Day's blessing to do his own thing for a while.

Now, it appears WWE is finally getting serious about giving Big E a singles push, and though it's unlikely he will be able to challenge for the Universal Championship, it would be great to finally see him move into the main event scene.
