Sasha Banks and Naomi recently walked out of WWE and have not been seen since. The company has issued a handful of brief statements on the matter, all of which have criticised their actions, and wasted no time stripping them of their Women's Tag Team Championships.
The prevailing opinion appears to be that neither will return to WWE, but we've been hearing a lot more about Banks than her former partner. Last week, rumours swirled that The Boss had secured her release, though it now sounds like the situation is not quite so simple.
Dave Meltzer confirms that the two sides have been in talks about Banks securing her release, but notes that doesn't necessarily mean it's a done deal. "As far as I know, the only thing that I have been told is that they are negotiating it right now. I don’t know that the negotiation is final."
"The last I asked, which would have been two days ago, it was not final but it wouldn’t shock me if it happened this week," he continued. "That is how it was described to me a couple of days ago. Where it is at this moment, I don’t know."
You'd think we would have heard something by now if Banks had been released, though Meltzer would go on to say that he would be shocked if there's nothing in there which stops both sides from saying anything negative about the other. That means you can forget about any tell-all podcast interviews with the former Women's Champion dishing the dirt on what happened.
We'll be sure to keep you updated on this one as we learn more.
