Heading into WrestleMania, Seth Rollins still doesn't have an opponent. During last night's episode of RAW, he bizarrely came up with the idea that if he could beat Kevin Owens in the show's main event, he would get to interview Stone Cold Steve Austin on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
WWE doesn't seem aware of how bad them not having matches for two of their top Superstars makes them look, but this storyline appears to be going somewhere.
Cody Rhodes is Rollins' rumoured opponent, but there was no sign of him last night despite rumours he might appear. However, several hints were dropped about his seemingly imminent WWE return. Corey Graves made a point of saying Seth's WrestleMania hopes had been "dashed" and noted that "his dream has become a nightmare."
There were a few other possibly hints throughout the rest of RAW, but these were the most blatant. It seems WWE has taken a page out of AEW's book and the way they teased the widely rumoured arrivals of CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. However, you'd think the company would look to make Rhodes' status clearer sooner rather than later, especially if it helps sell WrestleMania tickets.
However, WWE has used a lot of misdirection this year, suggesting Stone Cold Steve Austin will wrestle (he won't) and that Vince McMahon was set to face off with Pat McAfee (it'll be Austin Theory, instead of the WWE Chairman). Needless to say, we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
