Crown Jewel kicked off in style with Brock Lesnar defending his WWE Championship against old UFC rival Cain Velasquez. However, much to the surprise of fans, not only did it play out like a MMA fight but after a series of strikes, The Beast picked up the win after a couple of minutes by submission.

Now, WrestlingNews.co is reporting that the reason the match was so short is because Velasquez needs knee surgery and WWE didn't want to risk causing further damage. This was something the company was aware of when they signed him and, after this match, he's clearly going to be given time to have that and then recover.

Presumably, Velasquez will be back in time for WrestleMania as there are reportedly plans for a rematch between these two and he's signed a three-year deal with the company.

As always, stay tuned for updates.
