Earlier this week, former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio made headlines when he claimed that he had been in talks with WWE for a possible return which could happen as soon as mid-2020. This came as a shock to fans as we've heard nothing about this before now, but it sounds like the former United States Champion was trolling...or outright lying!
According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSport.com, "I’m told [Triple H] absolutely didn’t reach out to Del Rio for what that’s worth. Nor did anyone." Fightful Select, meanwhile, adds that his comments were "bullsh*t."
It sounds like a big part of why WWE wouldn't bring back Del Rio is because of his history with Paige, and she's actually a far more valuable asset to the company right now than he would be. It's no secret that Del Rio has made his fair share of disparaging remarks about Triple H and Vince McMahon, but he has since apologised (including in this latest interview).
Del Rio recently suffered a quick first-round loss to former UFC Champion Tito Ortiz under the Combate Americas banner, so his stock isn't particularly high right now, and his last WWE run was considered a disappointment.
Would you have any interest seeing Del Rio in WWE again?
