WWE Saturday Night's Main Event returns with its 38th special this upcoming weekend (January 25, 2025) at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, and we now know as of tonight's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw that there will be yet another title match added to the lineup for that event.
TL;DR = Rhea Ripley will face Nia Jax and put her Women's World Championship on the line.
How did it get to that? Well, before tonight's episode started, footage was shown that earlier tonight, Nia Jax had attacked Rhea Ripley out of nowhere backstage.
Jax was later in action against Bayley, successfully winning that match by pinfall. But right after her victory, Rhea Ripley came out, looking to get some payback.
Jax and Ripley brawled around the ringside area with numerous trainers, agents, referees and security officials, eventually with The Eradicator getting the upper-hand. Ripley stood on the commentary table and issued a direct challenge to Jax for a match at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Ripley and Jax are no strangers to one another. In fact, this time last year, they were also feuding, culminating in Ripley retaining the Women's World Championship over Jax at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia on February 24, 2024.
Over the years, they've had many house show matches, crossed paths in multi-woman matches like Survivor Series 2024's WarGames match and several Royal Rumbles. To date, Jax has never beaten Ripley in a televised singles match—as their only other singles bout on television was Ripley beating Jax on the August 2, 2021 episode of Raw, with Jax only winning tag team matches over the years.
Jax is already one of the only women declared for the 2025 30-Woman Royal Rumble match, so if she fails to win the title here, she'll be right back in the hunt for another opportunity the very next week.
In the meantime, this is the current lineup for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event's card:
- Contract Signing with Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, moderated by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels
- Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu
- Intercontinental Championship Match: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Sheamus
- Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Nia Jax
- World Heavyweight Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. Jey Uso
