During a recent interview to promote NXT's move to the USA Network, Triple H was asked about what the future holds in store for 205 Live. It's no secret that WWE is unlikely to continue filming the show after
SmackDown Live once it moves to FOX and that leaves the fate of the entire Cruiserweight division somewhat up in the air.
However, after previously alluding to it, The Game has now seemingly confirmed that the
205 Live brand will soon be folded into the NXT banner.
"The cruiserweights and 205 Live guys – if you look at recent activities – you've had some people like Chad Gable come in but also Swerve Scott and different people come up from the system and get there. I think it's more reasonable and that that championship sits in an NXT umbrella and is geared more bell-to-bell than general entertainment. That is where it sits better from a perception standpoint," he explained.
"As time goes on, rather than seeing the Cruiserweight Championship defended under a Clash of Champions banner, you see it at a TakeOver or somewhere else. It doesn't mean that it can't take place in those things, but it will also sit there and create more opportunities for everyone within that brand as well."
Triple H went on to say that if he can get more eyes on talent, he will, and ditching 205 Live might be the best possible option, especially if it brings the brand's wrestlers into NXT (where they'll be free of Vince McMahon's creative input).
What do you guys think?
