Triple H Doesn't Believe That NXT Will Factor Into This Year's WWE Draft

In the past, one of the most exciting things about the WWE Draft has been seeing talent from NXT called up. Triple H, however, has made it clear that he doesn't believe that will happen this time...

WWE recently announced that another WWE Draft will take place once SmackDown Live moves to FOX and that means we can expect some big changes as RAW and the blue brand once again become their own separate entities. However, it appears as if NXT will be sitting it out this time.

In the past, we've seen a number of big names brought to the main roster during the Draft but with some stacked rosters, that's clearly not a priority this time around. During a recent conference call, Triple H addressed that and said that while nothing is set in stone, he doesn't believe any NXT Superstars will be heading to either show.

"Everybody is gonna have to wait and see. I don’t foresee [NXT being part of the draft]. Right now, the main focus of the draft itself is Raw and SmackDown,” Triple H said on the NXT media call. “As October 4 comes along and moves forward, with Fox broadcast taking SmackDown and us staying with USA and NBCU, those become two competitive landscapes. I’m of the opinion that the NXT brand would continue to grow. Down the line, you will see — NXT has grown to where it shouldn’t be referred to as a developmental brand, even though we tend to debut newer stars, especially over the years.

"I think people lose perspective of the amount of stars that are homegrown that have never stepped into the ring before, that stepped into the Performance Center, made their mark in NXT, and moved up the line and are now on Raw and SmackDown. I think [NXT] needs more time to be considered in the same breath (as Raw and SmackDown), hopefully over the next few months we’re going to get there. The draft is much more about creating the brand split, having two distinct rosters between Raw and SmackDown. That’s what this draft is about."

Now that NXT is on the USA Network, it's very much become its own entity and while we will more than likely see Superstars from that show move to RAW and SmackDown Live, it would be silly to rob the show of its biggest stars so soon after it arrives on cable television.

As always, we'll be sure to keep you guys updated as we learn more about the WWE Draft and the role NXT may or may not play in it.
