In September, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE officials had discussed having NXT shows take place in the ThunderDome similar to RAW and SmackDown. That obviously hasn't happened, and the developmental brand is now calling the WWE Performance Center home again (the new set has been dubbed the "Capitol Wrestling Center").
Clearly, WWE decided that remodelling that building made more sense than using the ThunderDome, a surprise considering how much better that's made the company's other shows (visually, at least).
Now, Triple H has elaborated on why he was against NXT taking place in front of those video screens. "Since we have a permanent residence at the Amway Center, there was talk of NXT running there, but I was very resistant to that," The Game said. "Don’t get me wrong, the spectacle of it is awesome."
"But one of my goals is to make sure NXT has its own feel and vibe," he continued. "Now we’re ready to make our splash, and when people see what we have created, people will understand why this is the best environment for us."
Triple H later added that there are currently no plans for NXT to return to Full Sail University, so it seems that relationship has reached its end for the time being.
