Over the weekend, we heard rumblings that Samoa Joe could be NXT bound and that was confirmed earlier today. While WWE has yet to officially announce the news, we've heard plans for The Destroyer reported by enough reliable sources that we can safely say he'll soon be back in NXT.
Now, PWInsider has shared some additional details on what led to Joe returning after being released in April.
Apparently, Triple H "snatched him back" as soon as he could because "[he] was not happy [that WWE released Joe] and wanted him back in NXT as opposed to being elsewhere outside of WWE’s auspices."
Considering the fact it was Triple H who brought Joe to NXT, it's no great surprise that he was unhappy to see him released (this could apply to a number of former NXT Superstars, so it's hard not to wonder whether there's some tension between The Game and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon).
Joe hasn't wrestled since early 2020, but is expected to take on a "commissioner" non-wrestling role in NXT. Hopefully, the door will be left open to him being cleared down the line so he can once again compete.
