WWE has released the first full trailer for Undertaker: The Last Ride, and if you weren't chomping at the bit for this limited series before, it's safe to say you are now.
The series will provide a rare glimpse into the life of the man behind the Deadman, Mark Calaway, during the buildup to what many assumed - him included, evidently - would be his final match against Roman Reigns at 'Mania in 2016. The trailer features frank and revealing interviews with 'Taker, wife Michelle McCool, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and others, as Calaway reveals that he wants to finish his career on his terms while he can still get it done in the ring.
Of course, The Phenom would end up returning after being defeated by Reigns in this match, but it seems clear that this was indeed intended to be his "Last Ride."
Check out a trailer below, and be sure to catch the first episode when it airs on WWE Network this Sunday, May 10, after Money in the Bank.
In this Sunday’s premiere episode, Undertaker comes to terms with his own mortality as he prepares for what many believed to be the final match of his career against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. Fans will get a rare glimpse into what led up to that moment, the pressure he puts on himself each year getting ready for WWE’s annual pop-culture extravaganza, and much more. In addition, the episode looks back at the physical and emotional toll taken on Undertaker after his 21-year WrestleMania undefeated streak came to a shocking conclusion against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30.
