Current United States Champion AJ Styles has opened up on his decision to re-sign with WWE. Earlier this year, we learned that he had signed a five-year contract to stay with the company despite fielding offers from New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and others.

Ultimately, it seems as if Styles' decision boiled down to what he thought was best for his family and his career in the long run.

"This is my job. This is what I do for a living," he told Sporting News. "I knew that the next contract that I will sign will be my last. I’m getting older and I don’t want to embarrass myself if I don’t have to. That’s why it was important that I made the right decision and I did. I definitely, 100 percent made the right decision in staying with WWE."

As for why he feels that way, Styles added: "They’ve taken care of me since I’ve been here. They’ve shown me nothing but respect, so it worked out."

At this point in his career, it's easy to see why The Phenomenal One is keen to stay with WWE. However, it's hard not to imagine the matches he could have had in some of the aforementioned companies. What do you guys think?
