Since turning heel and winning the Universal Championship, Roman Reigns has been damn near unstoppable. He's taken on every challenger and ended up pinning both Edge and Daniel Bryan at the same time at WrestleMania last weekend. That decisive victory ensured that there won't be any rematches, so who will The Big Dog defend his title against next?
Well, it's being reported that one possible contender is former Intercontinental Champion Big E.
WWE has gone to great lengths to build him up since The New Day was split across RAW and SmackDown, making him a dominant singles competitor. While he may have lost to Apollo Crews at the Show of Shows, Dave Meltzer explained how that could factor into future storytelling during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live.
"E is theoretically en route to being built for a Universal title program," he stated. "WWE booking usually means you lose your secondary title when you move up the card."
While it's possible Big E won't be Reigns' first challenger as we head into WrestleMania Backlash, it makes sense for this clash to take place, and even more sense for E to eventually dethrone him. Many fans are hoping Cesaro will challenge the Universal Champion, but it's hard to imagine Vince McMahon having the Swiss Superman be the one who takes the title from Reigns.
