The RAW Women's Championship match at Extreme Rules ended with the referee receiving some green mist to the face courtesy of Asuka before Bayley donned his jersey and counted the 1-2-3 on behalf of her fellow Women's Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks.
With that, The Boss was crowned the new RAW Women's Champion, and the prevailing theory is that the decision will end up being changed during tonight's episode of RAW.
Regardless, during today's Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed some of the changes that were made to the PPV, including the fact this finish was dreamt up just hours before Extreme Rules started. "Asuka was supposed to win the match and Vince changed his mind, I think it was the day of the show. It was basically a last-minute change."
Alvarez added, "They moved the Jeff Hardy-Sheamus match to television. They are moving big matches to television because the television numbers are doing terribly."
Meltzer went on to explain that people within WWE flipped out when they saw last week's record-low number for RAW, and it's likely a rematch between Asuka and Banks will take place on tonight's or a future edition of the show in a bid to boost ratings.
Stay tuned for updates.
