It's common knowledge that Vince McMahon forbids Hall of Fame inductees from mentioning him during the Hall of Fame ceremony and on the latest edition of his podcast, Sean Waltman (a.k.a. X-Pac) has revealed that a WWE writer has now been fired because Bret Hart mentioned the Chairman during his speech.
When D-Generation X went out to do their speech, Vince was mentioned several times in a humorous fashion but it's not like he's going to fire his son-in-law!
Instead, this poor writer who helped Bret come up with what he said (before he was tackled to the ground by an idiotic "fan") is now out of a job and it really doesn't seem fair. "I think Bret mentioned Vince a bunch of times," Waltman said. "Vince got really hot. [We] went out and said it a million times and no one got fired. It’s not funny for the guy that f*cking lost his job."
It's a crappy situation but if the writer knew beforehand, then he probably should have done more to stop this from happening or at least given Vince a heads up.
