Aleister Black "moved up" from NXT to the main roster with quite a bit of fanfare, but it soon became clear that the powers that be didn't see quite as much in the Dutch Destroyer as his loyal fanbase did.
The promising "pick a fight with me" gimmick soon gave way to meaningless mini-feuds and run-ins, and over the past few weeks he's been one of Rey Mysterio's defenders in the ongoing feud with Seth Rollins and his disciples. This came to a head last week on Raw when Rollins beat Black (there was some outside interference) in a singles match, and seemingly put him on the shelf by injuring his arm.
It's been reported that Paul Heyman was a big proponent of utilizing Black in a main event position, but Vince McMahon simply doesn't feel the same way. Why? Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue has heard the boss believes Aleister is "missing something."
"Things have really changed in the last couple of weeks for Aleister Black. Now, Paul Heyman definitely loved him and Aleister Black was really the headline of the show for him. Every week, he would be having a half an hour match in the opening minutes.”
“To my knowledge, it is Vince McMahon who has mixed opinions, shall we say. Vince added that creek to the entrance when he leverages up and now he has removed the entrance all together. We haven’t seen the Aleister Black entrance in a long time. "
If true, this would be a huge shame. Black was one of the most popular NXT Superstars of all time and has a tonne of potential to be one of Raw's biggest draws. If Vince doesn't see that or isn't sure how to market/book him, then it's just another example of how out of touch he's become.
