During today's earnings call with investors, Vince McMahon talked about the possibility of selling the rights to major WWE PPVs to other streaming services. That would certainly increase the number of eyes on the product, and the WWE Chairman noted that they may add new tiers to the WWE Network or
"exercise the selling of our rights to all the major [streaming services]" to increase revenue.
"We have a lot of options," he added "We could continue on as we are now, with an enhancement of a tier...we also have an option right now, there's no more better time to exercise the selling of our rights to all the majors who, quite frankly, all the majors are really clamoring for our content."
"So that could be a significant increase, obviously, in terms of revenue," McMahon concluded.
Nothing is confirmed, but it sounds like WWE will consider moving in that direction depending on how things go moving forward. Interestingly, he added that there are potential deals in terms of PPVs on the Network and that it it's finalised, it "will be announced this quarter, that's how far along we are." He went so far as to say it would be "transformative" for the company.
What exactly this means remains to be seen but we'll be sure to keep you guys updated as we learn more.
