In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has revealed that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon was actually absent from this week's SmackDown Live

It was the go-home show ahead of Extreme Rules and while McMahon wasn't there in person, it's said that "he was on the phone constantly and he reviewed the show on the phone with people one hour before it started." If that's not proof he'll never give up creative control, what is?

Apparently, Triple H was working the Gorilla position, while Bruce Pritchard presented the show to the other producers. New Executive Director Eric Bischoff was not backstage but is expected to start working on SmackDown Live from next week.

Do you think the one-time WCW boss will be able to turn things around?
