Ronda Rousey recently made her highly-publicised first appearance as an officially certified WWE Superstar, and that fanfare may be the very reason - or at least, the main one - that the company decided to bring her in.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the plan is for Rousey's rumoured feud with Stephanie McMahon to generate more publicity for the RAW commissioner, and ultimately make her a bigger mainstream star.

”As far as Rousey goes, the key item not really talked about is the goals and a major reason why she is there from a company standpoint. All the different questions about her value to the company financially I’m told are secondary.”

If this is true, it's a smart play. Rousey is almost certainly going to be a massive star in WWE, so why not use her profile to elevate the status of the woman who will probably be running the entire company sooner or later?

Granted, some may not see it that way! Tell us, what do you guys make of this?
