This week's episode of WWE NXT had its fair share of interesting moments worth giving a spotlight to.
In a backstage segment, NXT General Manager Ava was deliered some of her mail by Robert Stone (her only assistant left, now that Stevie Turner was released by World Wrestling Entertainment several weeks back). It was a box that was already opened, which Ava made a point to verbalize. Inside were pieces of torn black fabric or some kind of material, which was quickly brushed over and not given any extra attention, strangely.
What's in the box? This has nothing to do with Gwyneth Paltrow, but a mystery box can be anything—even a boat. Whatever this black frayed material is meant to be something rather than nothing. Perhaps something dealing with the TNA storyline? One more mystery to try to solve on WWE programming along with the masked man from Survivor Series.
Shiloh Hill had an interesting vignette to showcase more of his personality. He told a story about a time he was in the wilderness and crashed, going into survival mode to not freeze to death or get eaten by wolves. Whether there is any truth to that story or if it is just pure kayfabe is anyone's guess.
Mr. Iguana has been named the next challenger for the NXT North American Championship and will face Ethan Page for the title at the upcoming NXT Deadline event on Saturday. In a backstage segment, Page was leaving the arena and thanking Ava and John Cena for not booking him in anything recently, assuming he had the night off for Deadline. Ava then told Page that it had been a while since he had defended the North American title (since Halloween Havoc) and that he would be putting it on the line at the event. Revealing his opponent, Mr. Iguana scared Page, and when he jolted out of his car, Mr. Iguana hopped in and stole it, driving off as Ava laughed at the situation.
It also appears the friendship between ZARIA and Sol Ruca is at its very limits to end, when they had an argument backstage with Zaria not wanting to support Ruca in her upcoming match. When that was over, and Ruca had won, Zaria went for a spear that was seemingly aiming for Ruca, who was pulled to the side by Lola Vice, leaving Zaria to spear Kendal Grey instead.
