Who Is WWE Teasing With Mysterious Vignettes On SmackDown?

Two mysterious teasers aired on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. Who are these vignettes about and what may be coming next for the roster?

This week's episode of WWE SmackDown featured two very fast teasers in "blink and you'll miss it" fashion between segments, both hyping up something mysterious.

The first was a bit more straightforward, showcasing a luchador bathed in orange filtered light and some electrical lightning effects, performing a few maneuvers such as walking on the top rope and posing on the top turnbuckle.

While nothing was said in the video and no text appeared on screen, this is very clearly Rey Fenix, Penta's brother and one half of The Lucha Brothers, who has been expected to join the WWE roster for several months following his intended departure from All Elite Wrestling, which was seemingly finalized on March 3rd when he was removed from the AEW roster page.

Interestingly, with Penta being on the Monday Night Raw roster and this airing on SmackDown, this means there's a chance WWE is going to split up the tag team, rather than do the most obvious thing that was expected of them by putting him on the red brand. Of course, without any confirmation one way or another, there's always a chance WWE aired this vignette just for the sake of getting people talking, and that there is no intention to have Fenix as part of the SmackDown roster, as typically, there is something along the lines of "coming soon to SmackDown" advertised.

Also tangentially related, possibly, WWE just trademarked "Grande Americano", which most likely is the name Chad Gable will be going by now that he is donning a luchador mask. With all of this focus on the lucha style happening lately, it's hard to imagine Fenix will simply go to SmackDown.

Someone else who does appear set for SmackDown, though, is Aleister Black, as his wife (Zelina Vega) is currently on that brand.

His return to WWE has been speculated even longer than Fenix, with Black's contract expiring on February 9th.

It may be a bit of a leap, but considering the other vignette that quickly aired on SmackDown consists of nothing but a black background, some smoke, and the number 4, there's not much more to go by other than that Black is the likely candidate, and the number may indicate the amount of weeks before he makes his return. If we see a number 3 next week, that will essentially confirm that.

Check out the 4 vignette here:

What do you think of these two mysterious teasers? Are they Rey Fenix and Aleister Black, or do you think these are leading to something else? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and tell us your predictions!
