WWE Superstar Seth Rollins was first spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World last month with it looking likely that he might be among the actors playing members of the villainous Serpent Society.
Well, one reliable insider now appears to have confirmed that by revealing Rollins has been cast as Cobra.
It's also said that the pro wrestler has wrapped filming after missing a couple of weeks of Monday Night RAW, suggesting the movie itself might be close to wrapping (which would explain Anthony Mackie's recent social media post).
There have been a couple of Cobras in the Marvel Universe, though we're guessing Rollins could be playing an amalgamation of the original, Klaus Voorhees, and his nephew Piet Voorhees.
While the former led the group for a time, that role is expected to go to Diamondback in Captain America: Brave New World so Marvel Studios will likely borrow more from the second version of the character. He was a mercenary who acquired his superhuman abilities after being injected with the same irradiated venom that transformed his uncle.
Rollins recently won the World Heavyweight Championship in a match with AJ Styles at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, so he's currently riding high. Nabbing a role in the MCU is a big deal for any aspiring actor, and while his priority appears to be his in-ring work, this could be the start of much bigger things for Rollins in Hollywood.
In terms of prior acting credits, he counts the likes of Sharknado: The 4th Awaken, Armed Response, and Like a Boss among them. We're definitely intrigued to see what he can bring to the table as Cobra.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
