The Elimination Chamber PLE takes place this weekend. When all is said and done tomorrow night, we'll have a much better idea of what to expect for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania this April.
Drew McIntyre is the current champion and has spent the past couple of months feuding with both Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu. All signs point to us getting a Triple Threat Match on the Grandest Stage of Them All, and according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the American Nightmare is a "virtual lock" for a match with McIntyre.
However, WWE has some concerns. According to Dave Meltzer, "The other talk regards McIntyre’s WWE title match. It’s a virtual lock Rhodes would be involved in that. Whether it’s a singles match or a three-way with Jacob Fatu, or even more that would involve Randy Orton, Sami Zayn or others is unclear, and may not even be finalized."
"What we have been told is that a match involving more than three people is not being talked about right now," he continues. "So it is still Rhodes and if someone is added, at this point, it would only be Fatu."
It's said that Fatu has "substantial support" within WWE to be involved in the Undisputed WWE Championship picture at WrestleMania.
Over to Brock Lesnar now, and Meltzer has learned that WWE is "well aware" that fans want Oba Femi to be the one who answers The Beast's open challenge. As of now, the idea is for Lesnar vs. LA Knight on the Show of Shows, but it seems that could change in the coming weeks.
A WWE Superstar who is expected to miss WrestleMania is Seth Rollins. During a recent interview, he was asked point-blank about appearing at the PLE and replied, "I wish I had a solid answer for you, but I am going to have to plead the fifth. I don’t know. The end of the day is I want to be back for WrestleMania, but it’s not up to me. It’s up to the doctors, they gotta tell me if I’m gonna be good to go."
As always, stay tuned for updates on WWE's WrestleMania plans as we have them.
