Despite there being less than two weeks to go until WrestleMania takes place in Tampa, Florida, it seems WWE still plans to add at least one more match to the Show of Shows. Those of you wondering what the company has planned for the United States Championship will be pleased to learn that the title will factor into the two-day PPV.
While Sheamus has spent the past few weeks feuding with Drew McIntyre, he failed to beat the Scottish Psychopath, leaving him free to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship as planned.
As a result, the Celtic Warrior will be setting his sights on the US title instead.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sheamus vs. Matt Riddle is being planned for WrestleMania, with that backstage confrontation on RAW meant to set the stage for that. This does feel like one of those matches thrown together at the last-minute, and it's not like we haven't seen these square off before now (in fact, that's happened a few times).
It's said that WWE is high on Sheamus after his recent in-ring work, so changes are he'll win the title. Keith Lee was supposed to be the one who took the US Championship from Bobby Lashley, but his mysterious absence complicated matters. As a result, Riddle was only ever really an interim champion.
