WrestleMania 37 marks the first show in over a year that WWE fans have been able to attend in person, but the Show of Shows got off to something of a disastrous start in Raymond James Stadium.
Before the show began, poor weather (heavy rain and lightning) damaged part of the impressive stage that was put together, but that was repaired, fans made their way to their seats, and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon welcomed them to WrestleMania with the entire roster by his side.
It was an incredible moment, and seeing fans back in the stands was chill-inducing.
Unfortunately, it was then that things started going wrong. After a video package, Michael Cole, Samoa Joe, and Byron Saxton explained to fans that WrestleMania couldn't begin because of poor weather. With the rain hammering down, fans fled to the indoor parts of the stadium to take cover, and WWE was forced to kill time with what appeared to be unscripted backstage promos.
That gave certain Superstars the chance to shine but meant that it was 40 minutes before the first match kicked off. Whether any additional delays will occur throughout the evening remains to be seen, but it's definitely unfortunate that WWE's first show in front of fans has been complicated by the weather. Hopefully, things improve, and the night can continue without any further issues.
Cole and Joe certainly looked appropriately dressed for the occasion, anyway...
