WrestleMania "Night 2" opened with Randy Orton facing The Fiend, and to say the match didn't pan out as most fans expected would be an understatement. The Viper essentially beat Bray Wyatt clean in the middle of the ring after he was distracted by Alexa Bliss, but that wasn't the original plan.
According to multiple outlets, The Fiend was supposed to win the match. As many as four WrestleMania finishes were changed at the last minute, with Wyatt set to win his bout hours before "Night 2" kicked off on Peacock and the WWE Network.
It's said that there were never plans for this to be more than a regular wrestling match, something which has baffled fans when Orton previously burned The Fiend alive...you'd think that might at least justify a No Disqualification match! Vince McMahon and Bruce Pritchard were reportedly the driving force behind Orton ultimately winning.
That's also a little odd, especially as he was then booked to lose the next night on RAW in a Triple Threat match with Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman.
This is WWE we're talking about, though, and sometimes...things just don't make sense!
The Fiend and Alexa Bliss have both moved on from Orton, and the signs are pointing to them both going through some changes over the coming weeks based on what we saw last night.
