LA Knight has quickly emerged as one of WWE's biggest fan-favourites, and we've been hearing rumblings all week that there are big plans for him at SummerSlam.

In fact, it's widely believed that his long-awaited push will begin after the PLE takes place, and last night's SmackDown saw Knight's role at the event finally confirmed.

WWE has added a Battle Royal to the card, with both Knight and Sheamus among the first confirmed competitors. They'll also square off in singles action next Friday, and it definitely feels like Knight is being lined up for a big win at the show.

It's unclear what, if anything, the winner of this Battle Royal will receive.

However, it's a good way for WWE to get many Superstars who otherwise wouldn't have matches on the card. We're guessing the fact it has a high-profile sponsor is another contributing factor (something Knight is no stranger to after his Mountain Dew-sponsored bout against Bray Wyatt at the Royal Rumble).

You can check out the announcement below along with SummerSlam's current confirmed match card.
