There had been rumblings the Day 1 card would be hit by some changes as a result of a rise in COVID-19 cases in WWE's locker room, but the show's biggest match was cancelled just hours before the PPV began. After Universal Champion Roman Reigns tested positive for the virus, the company was left with no other choice than to scrap his planned title defence against Brock Lesnar.

Here's Reigns' statement on missing Day 1:

It's been reported that Reigns vs. Lesnar happening was pivotal to WWE's WrestleMania plans, but those seem to have changed as The Beast was added to the WWE Championship match. The Fatal 4-Way with Big E defending against Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens became a Fatal 5-Way...and Lesnar ended up winning the title after pinning The New Day member.

However, WWE also seemed to make a point of teasing that long-awaited Lesnar vs. Lashley match, so it remains to be seen what that means for the former's feud with Reigns. We'd bet on a champion vs. champion match at the Show of Shows, but it all depends on what happens over the next few weeks.
