Dutch Mantell is something of a legend in the wrestling world, so it seems fair to describe him as a reliable source. However, it's hard not to be shocked by a rumour he's shared which claims that WWE is up for sale and that negotiations are currently happening with both ESPN and FOX.
While there are the usual denials doing the rounds, Vince McMahon has acknowledged the possibility of selling the WWE Network to those companies, so perhaps that's what Mantell is referring to here? Alternatively, there may be more to those talks than the WWE Chairman is letting on, and while he's previously dismissed selling the company, we live in uncertain times.
There's no denying that WWE is in a strange place right now, and with ratings falling, perhaps the McMahon family is ready to walk away and do their own thing. It's certainly hard to imagine then not being in charge, but it could ultimately be the best thing for a company that needs a fresh lick of paint.
