WWE Champion AJ Styles Confirms That He Is Intending To Retire Within The Next Two Years
Backing up recent reports, AJ Styles has confirmed that he is indeed planning on hanging up his wrestling boots by the time he turns 42, which is less than two years from now. Find out more after the jump...
During a recent AJ Styles interview, the WWE champion seemed top imply that he was contemplating retiring from the wrestling business for good in the near future, and it looks like we now have a little more than implications.
While chatting to Wrestling Observer Radio, The Phenomenal One confirmed that he's looking to get out of the business by the time he turns 42:
"At 42, that'll be 20 years for me. I think that's a good stopping point, if I make it. You never know what will happen next. Blowing out my knee at this point in my career could be career-ending. I was planning on retiring early, but apparently IUDs don't work for my wife."
Of course, this doesn't mean that it's definitely going to happen. Styles' current contact with WWE reportedly expires in early 2019, but if he's still on top of the ladder - or near enough - by then, he may well decide to stick around for a while longer.
