WWE Champion AJ Styles Describes His Tenure In TNA As Being "Cockroach-Infested"
In an interview which took place before last night's SummerSlam PPV, AJ Styles reflected on his and Somoa Joe's time in TNA and compared it to living in a "cockroach-infested apartment complex." Check it out!
AJ Styles and Samoa Joe may have put their names on the map in TNA but as time went on, it quickly became clear that the company had no interest in treating either man as the stars they were (and are) as they transformed into WCW-lite and started focusing on veterans like Hulk Hogan and Sting.
During a recent interview, Styles compared his and Joe's tenure with the company to living in a "cockroach-infested apartment complex" with "stale pizza" and went on to elaborate on those remarks.
"When I say ‘cockroach-infested’ that means, ‘Listen dude, we went through a lot of crap, we’ve worked in a lot of places to get to where we’re at, mainly with TNA,'" Styles explained in an interview with ESPN. "The guys that TNA didn’t want to push to the absolute tippity-top are also the guys in one of the biggest matches in SummerSlam for the WWE championship."
It's easy to see where Styles is coming from and you can't blame him for feeling resentful towards TNA, especially when he was treated so much better by New Japan Pro Wrestling. Joe, meanwhile, had his career revitalised by NXT and they're now two of the top Superstars on SmackDown Live.
