WWE champion Jinder Mahal's recent Smackdown Live promos on his Hell in A Cell opponent Shinsuke Nakamura crossed a line in many peoples' eyes, as the Modern Day Maharajah worked a few highly questionable things into his mockery of the Japanese Superstar.

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Mahal commented on his controversial promos - although he didn't actually address what was said so much as imply that he had no choice but to say it.

Every day in WWE is also an opportunity. I have to rise to the occasion every time I am given that opportunity, and that includes every promo on SmackDown, too.”

Despite the backlash, many fans do feel that a heel character should do and say horrible stuff in order to make people hate him.
