We recently reported on a rumor that WWE had scrapped plans for this year's installment in the annual 2K video game series, and that's now been confirmed.

The WWE Games Twitter account announced the news, promising more details would be revealed this coming Monday.

While this is obviously disappointing for fans of the game, it's not really that surprising given the reception to 2K20, which was heavily panned by critics for its poor performance, numerous glitches, and bugs.

We don't know if this is the end for Yukes' WWE 2K games, as they may simply want to skip a year and sort out the numerous issues - although rumors of a replacement game don't bode well for 2K's future.
