It was widely reported yesterday that WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair had been released from the company, but WWE has now made it official with a short, blunt statement shared on their website.
"We have come to terms on the release of Ric Flair as of today, 8/03/2021," it reads, failing to wish the Nature Boy all the best with his future endeavours. Of course, that probably has something to do with the fact Flair had reportedly grown frustrated with creative decisions that were being made and had grown unhappy with how his character was booked on RAW.
While we're waiting on additional details, it's believed Flair even contacted WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to air his grievances and that ended with him asking to be let out of his current deal.
Both he and daughter Charlotte Flair have spoken negatively about the storyline that saw him turn on his daughter after he seemingly became romantically involved with Lacey Evans. The angle was building to a match at WrestleMania with Evans and Flair, but was abandoned when the former fell pregnant and the whole thing was scrapped without any sort of explanation.
We don't know what comes next for Ric from here, but if he had his way, he's probably be wrestling Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam! He did sign with TNA once upon a time, and while we couldn't guarantee he'll be allowed to compete, IMPACT or AEW would surely welcome the iconic Superstar with open arms.
