WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy issued a non-title open challenge for next Wednesday's WWE 205 Live episode.

This is an interesting proposition as their have been whispers that a newcomer could make his debut on the cruiserweight brand next week. Several weeks ago, Drake Maverick promised new faces to appear on 205 Live and next week may mark the debut of a new member to the division, especially since Mustafa Ali has moved over to Smackdown Live permanently.

Murphy will defend his title in a Fatal 4 Way with Hideo Itami, Kalisto and Akira Tozawa at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but it should be interesting to see who answers the open challenge next week.
