The 2020 WWE Draft is set to continue tonight on Monday Night Raw with the second pool of superstars available to pick, but a random trade was announced on WWE's Facebook page at 5:30pm ET.
Out of nowhere, it was announced that Shorty G was drafted over to Friday Night SmackDown (or, more accurately, will remain on the blue brand since he was already part of the SmackDown roster prior to this.)
It's curious why WWE decided to go in this direction for this Draft pick. In all likelihood, a directive was put out that said some picks must be saved for social media accounts to try to drive up engagement and get fans involved in every aspect of the company's avenues. That would explain why some picks were reserved for Talking Smack to try to get viewers for that show.
This continues the trend of WWE wanting to spread out the draft for various platforms, meaning we should expect to see more of this.
Don't be surprised if the remaining free agents (Mickie James, Elias, Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik) who weren't picked in the previous pool are far from the only stragglers. There will likely be many more superstars left off tonight's pool and reserved for Raw Talk, as well as The Bump, YouTube videos and so on.
Stay tuned to The Ring Report for further developments on draft picks to come.
