The Huffington Post has published an article examining the life of Twitter user @AmyMek, who has a history of posting Islamophobic comments and typically generates an average of 25 Tweets per day aimed at promoting her hatred of Muslims.
The article uncovers that the Twitter user is named Amy Jane Mekelburg, and that she is the wife of former WWE Executive Sal Siino, who in February 2017 became WWE’s Senior Vice President of Global Content Distribution and Business Development.
The report notes Mekelburg told Tina Galasso, a now-former friend, that WWE was fully aware of her Twitter account but told Siino to keep his relationship with Mekelburg quiet, however when questioned by The HuffPost, an anonymous WWE spokesperson stated that: “This is the first time we’re hearing about Amy Mekelburg.”
It appears, however, as if WWE took action following The HuffPost’s probe into Mekelburg, as the report notes last Friday after HuffPost asked WWE a second time if anyone there had known about @AmyMek before hiring Siino, the company responded by getting rid of Siino.
“No,” said the WWE spokesperson. “Now that it has come to our attention, Sal Siino is no longer an employee.”
Mekelburg posted a long rant on Twitter accusing the author of the HuffPost article for WWE firing her husband.
